called a Chinese hourglass spider and it is one of the
rarest spiders in the world the spider is a type of
trapdoor spider which means it burrows into the sand

setting up its habitat and rarely venturing out it can
open and close the trapdoor by using its legs and
will do so to hide from predators so one of the reasons
this spider is so rare is that it rarely comes out from
behind its door in fact the Chinese hourglass trapdoor
spider is so rare it has only been seen six times since
2000 when it was rediscovered on a farm in China’s
Sichuan province
